StarTran’s convenient public transit systemis Lincoln’s most reliable, affordable and comfortable way to get around a growing community…and in the case of Lincoln’s trolley, StarTran now offers the most stylish way to experience downtown shopping, entertainment and restaurants.

Explore downtown in style on the Trolley. Newly in service in 2018, the Downtown Trolley brings you back to simpler times with beautiful oak seats, brass interior, a bell, and with all the luxuries of a modern bus. Enjoy the hidden and not-so-hidden attractions of downtown Lincoln, shop, dine, and do it without worrying about getting back to your vehicle. Wait no more than 15 minutes for the next Trolley and only seven minutes between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays during lunch. Open air rides available as weather permits. The fare is only 25 cents.

StarTran’s mobile apps make planning a trip and riding the bus easier than ever. Download BUSLNK to plan your trip, find the nearest stop, track your bus in real-time and check for detours. Download Token Transit to load your digital bus pass. Cellular or Wi-Fi service is required to activate the apps when boarding. If apps are not your style, track buses online, plan your trip, and set up alerts for your favorite stops at getonboard.lincoln.ne.gov.

Explore the attractions, shopping venues and unique neighborhoods across the City, or let StarTran get you safely to work, home or school on a daily basis.  Buses are equipped with bike racks for those who enjoy open air or trails. StarTran offers a variety of passes to meet your unique needs.  Seniors, low-income residents, and disabled citizens are eligible for reduced fare passes, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln students ride free with a current UNL ID and a bus pass.

With a variety of services and passes, StarTran meets the transportation needs of a diverse community and a vibrant entertainment scene. The door-to-door Handi-Van service is available to disabled persons who are unable to ride on traditional buses.  Contact the League of Human Dignity at 402-441-7871 to apply for this service. Husker football fans avoid traffic and parking hassles by riding StarTran’s Big Red Express. Service operates two hours prior to kickoff until 45 minutes before kickoff from convenient outlying lots and returns immediately after the games. Exact change is required.

StarTran buses operate Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. until 9:50 p.m., and Saturdays 6:30 a.m. until 7:05 p.m., except for these holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
