PLAY LOUD !
at the Lincoln Children’s Museum
by Ellie Charter
At the Lincoln Children’s Museum, kids don’t need an inside voice. Here, play is meant to be LOUD, hands-on, messy, and imaginative. This space gives families a one-of-a-kind entertainment option where kids can run with their creativity while parents enjoy the break from set-up and clean-up.
From imaginative play in Tiny Town to the three-story climber, which is the only one in the state of Nebraska, every visit lets kids write their own adventure. With their newest exhibits, there’s even more to explore. The all-new LNKLab offers leveled-up fun for kids ages 8-12 years old with three zones: Maker Studio for creativity, Energy Base for active play, and Book Nook for quiet reading. Plus, the new Tiny House expands Tiny Town, adding a new layer of community play.
Of course, we can’t forget the STEAM activities like erupting volcanoes, gooey slime, and glitter everywhere. Tinker Theater powered by Molex provides excitement for experiments, but keeps the mess at the Museum instead of at home. Parents love that experiments don’t have to be perfect here; even a “fail” is a chance to learn and try again.
The chance to PLAY LOUD doesn’t stop with daily visits. The museum also offers special programs and events throughout the year that extend the fun:
- Day Camps: When Lincoln Public Schools are out of session, the Museum offers single-day camps filled with themed experiments and creative play. Parents can count on a safe, creative environment while kids enjoy structured activities alongside free play.
- Summer Camps: Week-long summer camps
dive even deeper into themes like science, art, and community exploration. These camps give kids the chance to build friendships and develop new skills. - Game Day Play Dates: During most home Husker football games, the Museum hosts special play sessions that give kids a fun place to spend the day while parents leave to cheer on the Huskers. It’s a win-win for families who want both game-day excitement and meaningful activities for their children.
- Member Perks: Families who become members enjoy unlimited access to the Museum year-round, plus discounts on camps, events, and the toy store.
At the Lincoln Children’s Museum, imagination is meant to run wild. Whether through a spontaneous visit, a summer camp, or a Game Day Play Date, there’s always a chance for your kids to PLAY LOUD. Come see what they can discover.
