Three decades and three years ago, we launched Lincoln Today as the premier lifestyle magazine showcasing our beloved city of Lincoln. Back then, numerous civic leaders and business owners pledged their support and to this day, they have remained steadfast in their commitment. For their continued support we are truly grateful.
The production team behind Lincoln Today Magazine has deep roots in our beloved city, having spent most of our lives here. Our profound affection for Lincoln is unmistakable, and there are countless reasons why we hold it dear.
We enjoy an abundance of sunny days, even in the winter. Lincoln is a safe city. Sometimes we take for granted the low crime and unemployment rates which contribute to the vitality of Lincoln.
We live in the midst of vibrant arts, music and live performances with a myriad of genres to choose from. Lincolnites, like all Nebraskans, love sports. Our affection was on display recently when 92,003 fans packed Memorial Stadium to watch the UNL women’s volleyball team play UNO, setting an all-time world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event. 95,000 Nebraska football fans regularly attend home football games extending their national sellout record.
We enjoy an impressive array of restaurants and coffee shops, 132 parks, 172 miles of trails, nine public swimming pools, five city golf courses, 93 playgrounds, four dog runs, a nature center, beautiful public gardens, and over 80,000 trees that grace our city streets.
We love the fact that there are exceptional opportunities in education and support for entrepreneurs in business pursuits of all sizes. Lincoln has gained national acclaim for its robust housing market and economic resilience, positioning itself as one of the nation’s most recession-resistant cities.
The city of Lincoln has earned its place among the top ten in various national rankings, with notable mentions such as one of the Top 10 Livable Cities in 2019 and one of the Best Places to Raise a Family in 2022.
We do love Lincoln for all these reasons but we love her most for the people we’ve come to call neighbors and friends. Those of you who agree know that’s why we call Lincoln, “the good life.”
I hope you get a sense of why we love Lincoln in this 2024 issue of Lincoln Today.
Sincerely,
Sriyani Tidball
